| 6,000 miles round trip at an (optimistic) 20 mpg = 300 gallons of gas. Assuming an average gas price of $2.75 x 300 gallons = $825 Then there's hotels and meals. Airfare is running around $600 round trip. Given the choice, I'd do the road trip as I've been itching to do a cross country trip for quite some time. But practicality-wise, it's cheaper to fly. What bugs me is that the airfare for the same trip last year was about half of what they are now :( Dave
